XI SIMET National Congress 2026
The 11th National Congress of SIMET will take place in Turin, Italy, from June 11 to 13, 2026. The Congress is held every two years, and serves as a meeting point for discussing tropical medicine and addressing global health issues among professionals in the field, both nationally and internationally. With a deeply multidisciplinary focus, the meeting will address and review global health topics such as the epidemiology of infectious and non-communicable diseases, the right to access healthcare, the interactions between health and migration, environment and climate, inequalities in access to public health systems, and international cooperation, among other subjetcs of interest.
“New Challenges in Global Health” is for professionals interested in tropical health, including physicians, nurses, veterinarians, biologists, pharmacists, and other stakeholders. It is organized by the Italian Society of Tropical Medicine and Global Health (SIMET) and addresses health from a “One Health” approach. The interconnections between human, animal, and environmental health will be explored, analyzing how climate change, migration, and poverty influence the spread of diseases.
On June 12, there is a symposium dedicated to Chagas disease, titled “A Transdisciplinary Approach to NTDs: The Example of Chagas Disease” (SIMET-SOIPA).
The Italian Society of Tropical Medicine (SIMET) is a multidisciplinary scientific society with 42 years of experience. Its mission is to promote research on tropical diseases and zoonoses, including neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), and international cooperation in health matters. It is a member of the Federation of European Societies of Tropical Medicine and Global Health (FESTMIH).
