SLIPE’s Course on Congenital and Perinatal Infections Begins

The Latin American Society of Pediatric Infectiology (SLIPE) hosts a 12-week virtual course starting on September 3rd. “Frequent Congenital and Perinatal Infections in Latin America” has been organized by its Perinatal Infections Committee for healthcare professionals in Latin America. SLIPE will issue a certificate to those who register and complete the free activity.

This course is directed by Dr. Giannina Izquierdo (Chile) and Dr. Claudia Beltrán (Colombia), alongside seven prestigious instructors. From September 3 to November 19, 2026, every Thursday it will review evidence regarding infections that define a newborn’s prognosis from congenital syphilis, such as cytomegalovirus, toxoplasmosis, herpes simplex, HIV, arboviruses, Chagas disease, and malaria, among other topics.

SLIPE is a non-governmental, non-profit association that since the 1980s has brought together various Latin American physicians specializing in pediatric infectiology to promote this specialization and facilitate scientific communication and research among different Latin American countries. Over the years, it has organized and directed International Congresses that foster the continuous study of pediatric infectiology, and where, above all, aid operations for civil society are approved to improve conditions related to pediatric infectiology in Latin American countries.

Also, from November 4 to 6, 2026, SLIPE will participate in the “XIX International Congress of Pediatric Infectiology,” organized by the Center for Pediatric Infectiology Studies (CEIP) in the city of Cali, Colombia.
