Molecular diagnosis of neglected parasitic diseases & malaria: Tools for the real world in AI era

Majadahonda, Madrid (Spain)
9 - 12 June 2026

The ESCMID Study Group for Clinical Parasitology (ESGCP) of the European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases and the Sociedad Española de Enfermedades Infecciosas y Microbiología Clínica (SEIMC) are organizing a training session on parasitic diseases. “Molecular diagnosis of neglected parasitic diseases & malaria: Tools for the real world in AI era” will be held from June, 9 to 12, 2026, in Madrid (Spain).

This on-site postgraduate course offers an intensive, interactive training experience focused on the diagnosis of malaria and other neglected parasitic diseases (NPDs), with an emphasis on modern molecular techniques and the integration of artificial intelligence (AI)in diagnostic workflows. Developed in alignment with the WHO NPD Road Map 2030 and current global health priorities, the course combines high-level theoretical instruction with extensive hands-on training in a state-of-the-art reference laboratory. Participants will gain practical experience in microscopy, PCR, sequencing, and AI-based platforms, addressing diagnostic challenges and innovations relevant to both endemic and non-endemic contexts.

The course is tailored for parasitologists, microbiologists, infectious disease specialists, clinical pathologists, general practitioners, and laboratory professionals with a current or future role in diagnosing parasitic infections. The content is particularly relevant for professionals engaged in disease surveillance, outbreak response, and diagnostic research in endemic or travel-related contexts.

Registration is open until 18/05/2026. For more information go to the ESCMID’s official website.
