Study of the Effectiveness of Educational Intervention on Chagas Disease in Primary Care Health Centers in Huelva
IBERMED. Médicos con Iberoamérica
Huelva
Chagas disease in Spain is considered an emerging disease and a public health problem because Spain is the second country in the world, after the USA, with the largest population of Latin origin.
Chagas disease is an emerging disease of great biosanitary interest due to the increase in prevalence in our environment.
One of the great challenges of Chagas disease is underdiagnosis and limited access to medical care due to the lack of knowledge of the disease by healthcare personnel and the patient themselves.
Identifying them is key to offering treatment early, preventing disease progression and improving quality of life.
Our objective is to increase the diagnosis of the disease, improving the knowledge of the health personnel of the primary care health centres in the province of Huelva about Chagas disease, through training talks. A pre and post evaluation of the training activity will be carried out and the prevalence before and after our intervention will also be measured to check its effectiveness.
We will measure the prevalence through the data of the serological samples processed in the Microbiology laboratory of the Juan Ramón Jiménez University Hospital.
