Truths and Lies About Chagas Disease

Chagas Coalition and PAHO invite you to an informative session on the most common misinformation associated with Chagas disease

On the occasion of World Chagas Disease Day 2025, commemorated every April 14th, the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and Chagas Coalition are hosting a virtual discussion titled “Truths and Lies about Chagas Disease” (from the Spanish “Verdades y Mentiras de la Enfermedad de Chagas”);  to be held on Thursday, April 10, 2025.

The evolution of multidimensional knowledge of the Chagas disease associated complications is still faced with misinformation. Some narratives, discourses, prejudices and beliefs can affect the objectives of eliminating this disease as a public problem, specially because they occur in the area of ​​the health personnel, affected communities and society in endemic countries.

On World Chagas Day 2025, PAHO, Chagas Coalition and other organizations and experts want to clarify several of the most controversial aspects that reach us all through everyday communication channels, such as social networks, technical consultations, testimonies and personal experiences.
