FUNDACIÓN PROBITAS

Since 2008, the Probitas Foundation has been contributing to improving access to health for vulnerable people through its International Program. This program is developed in remote areas of the planet with scarce resources where diseases represent a serious public health problem and cause immense human suffering with high rates of morbidity and mortality.

Probitas advances towards universal health coverage through programs to combat Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) and laboratory strengthening with the aim of improving both disease prevention and their diagnosis and management. Additionally, Probitas supports research projects to improve the diagnosis and treatment of these diseases.

Probitas strengthens the capacities of public and community health systems. The projects, developed in collaboration with local entities and health authorities, focus on primary health care. Thus, community participation is promoted to integrate health care as a priority.

Probitas develops projects against Chagas disease with the aim of improving comprehensive care for affected communities (prevention, diagnosis, and treatment) as well as training health professionals and improving the infrastructure of health centers to enhance their capacities. In parallel, other health issues affecting local communities are addressed, such as the lack of adequate maternal and child health care or proper access to water and sanitation. Currently, the projects are being developed in the Bolivian and Paraguayan Chaco.
