New methodological guide to evaluate Chagas disease prevention and control initiatives in the Americas
PAHO updates this document for professionals involved in improving national programs against the transmission of this tropical disease
07/08/2025
The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) has updated its methodological guide for external evaluations, with reference criteria and requirements, for the evaluation of initiatives for the prevention and control of Chagas disease as a public health problem in the Latin America.
The document replaces the previous guide dated in 2019, and consolidates a methodological framework for a standardized study of progress, evaluation and validation, available to apply to the national programs. The guide is aimed at those responsible for planning and managing the processes, external and independent evaluators, and also for the national health teams. These specifications constitute an effective assistance resource when planning, preparing, organizing, and executing the processes to be developed.
