Implementation of the EMTCT Plus strategy to strengthen maternal and child health

Fundación Mundo Sano

Región del Gran Chaco Sudamericano (Argentina, Bolivia y Paraguay), Pampa del Indio, Almirante Brown, Santa Victoria Este (Argentina) y Comapa, departamento de Jutiapa (Guatemala)

Every two months since 2018, an interdisciplinary team made up of gynecologists-obstetricians, biochemists, ultrasound technicians, pediatricians, infectious disease specialists, and family doctors travels to each of the region’s villages to offer comprehensive healthcare to the entire local community, especially pregnant women. This care includes the diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment of pregnant women, postpartum women, and newborns, as well as referrals in cases that require care for problems that exceed local capabilities.

The project also includes training local health personnel and recording data using a computer system, facilitating the planning of future actions and access to information on an online platform specially designed for this implementation.
